Thompson’s Jersey Retirement Night Set

A true pillar of Vermont men’s hockey will take center ice one final time, as the Catamount Senior Elite Hockey Leagueprepares to retire Chris Thompson’s #14 jersey in a special ceremony this season.
Chris Thompson isn’t just another player — he’s the reason the CSEHL exists. As the league’s founder and the original driving force behind the Chittenden Chiefs, Thompson built more than a hockey league — he built a community. From recruiting players and organizing teams to setting the tone in the locker room, his dedication and love for the game turned a local idea into Vermont’s premier men’s hockey league.
Anyone who’s played with or against Chris knows what made him special. His leadership came with a smile, his competitiveness came with a laugh, and he made sure everyone who laced up felt like part of something bigger.
The Chiefs and the entire CSEHL family are proud to honor the man who started it all. Thompson’s jersey will hang as a symbol of his impact — not just for the goals or the wins, but for the laughter, the memories, and the brotherhood he helped create.
Join us as we celebrate Chris Thompson’s legacy and officially retire #14 — a number that will forever represent the heart and soul of the league he built.
